With reports calling for about 15 centimetres of snowfall, the city is ready to handle it.
Toronto is officially under a cold weather alert with temperatures ranging as low as -15 C.
Toronto transportation services are prepared for the expected weather.
“Once the snow starts to fall, our 200 salt trucks will be deployed,” said Eric Holmes of the city’s transportation services. “Once we get to two and a half centimetres. plows will go out on the expressways.”
Services such as the TTC have prepared for possible delays.
Hayley Waldman says “We live in Canada, it’s January inclement weather is unfortunately a reality. We have certainly have plans in place to face whatever happens but of course it’s difficult to say how it will play out until we’re there.”
The TTC is running without major service interruption but has a section of its line 1 Yonge University route closed due to scheduled construction.
