Red-hot Stefan Daniel leads a three-person Canadian team into the Para Triathlon, on Sunday morning at the Pont Alexadre III, in Paris.
Daniel (Calgary, Alta.) is the lone men’s competitor, while Kamylle Frenette (Dieppe, N.B.) and Leanne Taylor (Winnipeg, Man.) will race on the women’s side.
All three are heading into their events with tons of confidence, as they all have had strong seasons coming into the Games.
The 27-year-old Daniel, in his third Paralympics, has four podium finishes on the World Series Tour this season, including gold in Miami, and silver in Yokahama, and Montreal.
He also has two Paralympic medals on his resume, a silver from Rio in 2016, and a bronze from Tokyo in 2021.
The five-time world champion is still chasing the top step at the Para’s and will be competing on Sunday in the men’s PTS5 event at 6:20 AM EST, as the number one ranked athlete.
Frenette has also had a strong stretch of late, she also comes into Paris with an excellent track record having won 21 medals in 29 starts during her international career.
The 28-year-old just missed the podium at her first games in 2021 in Tokyo, and is currently the fourth-ranked athlete heading to the line for the women’s PTS5 race, set to get underway Sunday morning at 6:35 AM ET.
Meanwhile, Taylor is making her Paralympic debut just six years after she was paralyzed from the waist down during a biking accident.
The 32-year-old is currently ranked third for her classification (PTWC) and has top five finishes at the world championships in 2022 and 2023. Her race is set to begin at 2:20 a.m. ET.
