Three-time Canadian Paralympic athlete Roberta Sheffield, and her mount Fairuza, placed sixth in the Para Equestrian Individual Grade 2 Event dressage on Tuesday, in Paris.
The world No. 7 earned a final percentage score of 70.345, trailing the first-place world No. 1, Fiona Howard, by 6.3 per cent.
This year marked a significant change for Sheffield, as she was reclassified from Grade III to Grade II due to the progression of her chronic rheumatoid arthritis.
Despite the challenges of adapting to a new classification with different routines and a smaller arena, the Canadian’s finish was a place higher than her world ranking.
Sheffield will look for her first medal on Saturday in the Individual Freestyle Grade 2 Event.
