On a day where Nathan Clement found a siver lining, the rest of Canada’s cycling team had an up and down day on the street of Paris.
Keely Shaw, of Midale, Sask., earned fifth place in the women’s C4 Individual Time Trial, finishing the 14.1 km course in 22:09.19, just 29.95 seconds behind gold medalist Samantha Bosco of the United States.
Meg Lemon, of Australia, took the silver medal by just .17 seconds over Franziska Matile-Doerig, of Switzerland, herself 24.8 seconds up the road from the Canadian.
Shaw has one more event on Friday in the women’s C4-5 Road Race, at 3:35 a.m. Eastern.
Kate O’Brien’s day in the same race ended early as the Calgary resident did not finish (DNF). The track bronze medalist from last week, has finished her Paralympic run.
Meanwhile, Mel Pemble (Victoria, B.C.) finished in 14th place in the women’s C1-3 Road Time Trial.
Her time of 26:05.83, was 4:35.08 behind first place Maike Hausberger, of Germany.
Frances Brown, of Great Britain, won the silver medal, and Anna Beck of Sweden got the bronze.
Charles Moreau (Victoriaville, Que.) finished seventh place in men’s H3 Individual Time Trial, finishing 47:15.72.
Mathieu Bosredon and Johan Quaile of France won the gold and silver, and Martino Pini of Italy got the bronze.
