Charles Moreau’s Paralympic journey ended early on Thursday after he crashed out of the men’s H3 (handcycle) road race in Paris.
The Victoriaville, Que., native was knocked out of the race after getting caught up in a crash caused by Italian cyclist Martino Pini midway through the competition. Moreau was in seventh place cycling with the chase group prior to the crash.
Mathieu Bosredon and Johan Quaile of France won gold and silver, respectively, while the bronze went to Mirko Testa of Italy.
On Wednesday, Moreau finished in seventh place in the men’s H3 individual time trial, finishing in 47:15.72.
Moreau won bronze in the time trial and road races at the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games. The 42-year-old participated in six World Championships from 2014-2023, attended the 2023 and 2015 Parapan American Games and won a silver medal at the 2009 Para triathlon worlds.
In January 2008, the cyclist was in a serious car accident that left him paraplegic.
