Head coach Kevin Jeffers said that with the constantly changing rosters in high school basketball – players graduating or transferring schools – his team is currently experiencing a period of self-discovery.
“They haven’t found their identity yet,” he said. “Once they get comfortable in their roles, we’ll be fine.”
Plans are underway for the revitalization of the schoolyard at Valley Park Middle School, located at the corner of Don Mills Road and Overlea Boulevard — the central, defining feature of what could be a full-sized cricket pitch.
East York Collegiate’s junior girls’ basketball team is midway through its season, continuing a streak of success. After a perfect record and city championship last year, they have yet to lose this season.
East York Collegiate’s senior football team was defeated by the Lawrence Park Panthers by the remarkable score of 1-0. The game’s only point came moments into the fourth quarter after a missed 20-yard field-goals attempt by the Panthers that East York was not able to run out of the end zone.
For the second straight year, the Leaside Lancers stole the show at East York Collegiate’s annual Friday Night Lights game.
