It’s time to talk eldercare, Scarborough Hospital says

Twenty-four-year-old Sam Christensen, his parents and his grandmother had something important to talk about, which is why they were at The Scarborough Hospital earlier this month. On Feb. 9, the hospital hosted its first It’s Time to Talk forum. The theme for the Wednesday night event was Tough Transitions: Aging, Families and Eldercare.

Students busk in subways for homeless youth

Schools across the city took over subway stations on Feb. 11, singing, dancing and collecting TTC tokens for Toronto’s Tokens4Change event. Tokens were collected for Youth Without Shelter to help homeless youth get around the city for school, doctor appointments and job interviews.

Second Base shelter’s breakfast program gets second chance

Second Base Youth Shelter’s prayers have been answered in the form of new funding that will help it keep its breakfast program running. The Islamic Foundation of Toronto, with support from Darchei Noam — a Jewish congregation — will launch the new Feeding Faithfully program Feb. 27.
