First Muslim International Film Festival

Friends and families from all over the GTA grabbed their car keys and headed to Ontario Place’s drive-in movie theatre Friday to attend Toronto’s first-ever Muslim International Film Festival (MIFF). There were 80 or more vehicles parked to watch the screening of eight short films and two feature films. Despite the pandemic, the drive-in theatre concept allowed the audience to watch the films and eat together while remaining in their own bubbles.

‘Homes not Domes’ protest held outside luxury pop-up restaurant, steps from former camps

With $550, Torontonians can get a fancy meal underneath a highway, but probably not a place to live–cue hundreds of protesters gathering outside a posh dining experience on Friday that opened weeks after homeless encampments were evicted from the area. Dinner with a View, a pop-up series that serves top-chef meals in human sized terrariums, opened at The Bentway at 250 Fort York Blvd. on March 28. The Ontario Coalition Against Poverty (OCAP) organized the gathering around the venue with a counter event, Dinner with a View–of the Rich.
