It started as a routine trip to the off-leash dog park. It ended in tragedy. “[The dog] had its chest completely ripped into,” emergency veterinarian Dr. Norm Nasser said, recalling a particularly nasty case. The damage was done in a fight with another dog.
Most of the tab for three new dog parks in Scarborough is being picked up by developers, Councillor Glenn De Baeremaeker says. On Oct. 6, the Ward 38 councillor announced Scarborough will be gaining the three new dog parks. The total cost of the new parks is pegged at $700,000, with $500,000 being paid for through what are known as Section 37 contributions: money paid by developers and used to improve communities.
On Oct 6. Councillor Glenn De Baeremaeker held a Cutest Dog Contest at Thomson Memorial Park. Scarborough residents brought their canine companions to the dog park and entered them into some friendly competitions including cutest dog (small, medium and large), longest tail, best dressed, dogs who look like their owners and of course, best trick.
