Generations of Greeks filled the sidewalks of Danforth Avenue from Donlands all the way to Broadview, for the Greek Independence Day parade.
Greek Independence Day
Members of the Greek community took the streets of Greektown on Sunday to take part in the annual Greek Independence Day parade. There was music, food, dancing, traditional clothes and more.
Greektown resident John Galaktopolous came out to celebrate his heritage on March 29. “It’s freedom day,” he said. “That’s what it’s all about. We are a strong nation.” More than 15,000 people lined the Danforth, between Jones and Chester avenues, to watch the Greek Independence Day parade on Sunday.
