Ali Weinstein started swimming at the East York Community Centre before her first birthday. Her father, Larry Weinstein, says while other kids were miserable in the water, she had the widest smile he’d ever seen.
After being closed for more than a year, the Crescent Town Club’s swimming facility threw a “grand pool reopening” to welcome back residents. The event took place Saturday, March 10, at 2A the Market Place near Victoria Park and Danforth avenues.
Since she was seven, Sophie Long’s best times in the pool have been an inextricable part of her identity. This is about to change over the next week for the native of Cleethorpes, UK as she will step away from competitive swimming after the National Championships, running through Friday in Greensboro, N.C.
