James Reimer and the Toronto Maple Leafs treated the hometown crowd on the NHL’s opening night with a 2-0 victory over the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday.
The Boston Bruins won the Stanley Cup last season, and thus head into the coming year as a heavy favourite to repeat. Not wanting to mess with success, the Bruins didn’t do much roster tinkering over the offseason. Tomas Kaberle moved onto the Carolina Hurricanes, but the club traded for Joe Corvo (formerly of the Hurricanes himself) and feels he can put up similar production at a cheaper price.
Mikhail Grabovski scored twice and added an assist to propel the Toronto Maple Leafs to a 5-3 comeback win over the Senators in pre-season action Tuesday night in Ottawa.
