East York lane named after local luminary

Thomas McClintock was an immigrant from Ballymena, Northern Ireland, who moved to Canada in the early 1900s. McClintock was responsible for building many homes in East York, which contributed to the stabilization and improvement of housing and living conditions the area was in need for at the time.

East York will consider lower speeds on local streets

Toronto and East York Community Council has decided to consider lowering speed limits on local roads. The 12-member council voted unanimously to hold a meeting to discuss the issue on June 22. Council reached the decision at its April 14 meeting.
