Two charged with murder in June shooting

Two men have been charged in the 2012 death of a 30-year-old Scarborough man. Orville Campbell, 21, and Stanton David, 20, were arrested and charged on Tuesday with first-degree murder in the shooting of Ricardo Vincent last June.

Scott Mission assures public new family centre is ‘safe’

The director of the Scott Mission location in east-end Toronto has reassured area residents that its family centre will not attract the homeless. On Thursday, the Scott Mission foundation held a community-awareness meeting in its new family centre, the Scott Mission O’Connor Family Centre, located at 1550 O’Connor Dr. The facility will provide food, clothing and child care to people who can not afford basic needs.

Toronto Police hope video footage released Dec. 6 leads to identifying two men wanted in connection to a series of late-evening car thefts. Since Aug. 3, 23 high-end vehicles have been stolen from Toronto homes while families have been asleep or on vacation, police say.

Toronto officials ready for Grey Cup victory parade

Harold Mah figured the Toronto Argonauts would win the Grey Cup more than two weeks ago. “Once the Argos entered the playoffs, we were already in discussion about a parade,” Mah said. He is the event support manager for the City of Toronto. For the most part, Mah said, plans for a Grey Cup parade have been organized for the past two weeks.

Voyeur websites under scrutiny by police and public

One photo shows a woman in a low-cut top picking up spilled change. Another shows a teenager’s thong rising up her backside. Colleen Westendorf, a spokesperson for SlutWalk, views such photography on the Internet as harassment of women. “Voyeurism affects women in the same ways all forms of violence, harassment and sexism affect women,” Westendorf said.
