Devised theatre piece a gem

Opening night is quickly approaching as University of Toronto theatre students rehearse for their original production of The Jewel in the Lotus.

The play is not your typical piece of theatre. With no plot, characters or story, the production gives the audience an opportunity to experience a type of show they wouldn’t normally be exposed to.

Egyptian Canadians celebrate Mubarak’s resignation

Naira Badawi’s phone has been ringing non-stop. Among those calling? Her fiancé, Egyptian-American Amr Taha, was in Tahrir Square when the announcement of Hosni Mubarak’s resignation was made. Taha has been camping in the centre of Cairo on and off since the anti-Mubarak protests began.

Student showcase research as part of World Aids Day

With its vibrant colours and frantic brush strokes, Nicole Findlay’s display drew crowds to her table. Although abstract at first glance, Findlay’s painting is a visual representation of her master’s thesis on holistic AIDS medicine in Tanzania.
