TAVIS connects with communal courtyard

The brisk October air and heavy dark clouds didn’t stop the kids from 3181 Eglinton Ave. E. from helping their friends at the Toronto Police plant shrubs and flowers in their courtyard Saturday.

This gathering was another event TAVIS has supported in making the building’s courtyard a more inviting communal place.



Youth Olympians bring home bronze from Singapore

Canada continued to make a name for itself this summer, this time at the inaugural Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in Singapore. The Games are for athletes aged 14 to 18, and saw over 3,000 athletes competing in the program that is also set for the 2012 London Games.

30 years later, Terry Fox’s dream lives on

On Sept. 19, a morning full of sunshine, the annual Terry Fox Run took place all over Canada. Scarborough residents came out to Cedarbrook Park on Markham Road and Old Kingston Road in West Hill to continue Terry’s run to raise awareness for cancer research.

Few turn out for Scarborough Bluffs cleanup

With the sun rising into a clear sky above the Scarborough Bluffs, Sunday provided the perfect backdrop for the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup. The only problem? Only six people volunteered to help at the Sept. 19 event.
