With over five decades of experience in the industry, Alanis Obomsawin has become one of Canada’s most prestigious documentary filmmakers of all time. Her storytelling revolves around Canada's Indigenous peoples, whose stories are often unheard, or worse—misunderstood by the public.

As dozens of blankets were laid out at East Lynn Park, participants and witnesses slowly gathered to watch the Kairos Kitchi Blanket Exercise take place. The event came just in time to mark the 10-year anniversary of the adoption of the United Nations Declaration of the Rights of Indigenous People.
