Canada will be following in the footsteps of a successful program in the U.K. to launch its first scholarship for aspiring culinary talent.
The scholarship, worth $30,000, launched on Feb. 26th and will mark the 120th anniversary of Le Cordon Bleu.
The scholarship will be available to Restaurant Canada members and their employees, regardless of their current job title.
Applicants must submit a two-minute video answering a culinary industry question by July 31.
Future chefs will be judged by a panel of culinary experts who’ll choose three regional finalists in August. Finalists will be flown to Ottawa to compete for the grand prize in November.
The grand prize includes a nine-month placement in the Diplome de Cuisine program at Le Cordon Bleu Ottawa Culinary Arts Institute for 2016. A paid internship under the guidance of Chef Yannick Anton of Le Cordon Bleu Signatures restaurant in Ottawa. The internship is done at the same time of the study year and offers $5,000 paid for work.
