Save Our Services day of action set to roll Nov. 9

The Scarborough Health Coalition (SHC) is set to decorate cars and lead a carpool rally to seven MPP offices on Nov. 9.

The goal, according to SHC representative Kingsley Kwok, is to appeal to the province to stop flat-lining hospital funding.

“Twenty-eight million dollars is the estimated fiscal challenge faced in 2014-2015 by the merger or integration of Scarborough and Ajax hospitals,” Kwok said. “We need to restore hospital funding.”

Cuts have already affected patients with the closure of operating rooms, post-op beds and increased wait times, Kwok said.

The carpool rally’s first stop is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. at 4630 Sheppard Ave. E. From there it will move on to MPP Bas Balkissoon’s constituency office.
