Crews are investigating after an explosion rocked a condo building in Liberty Village on Monday night. The explosion blew out windows and elevator doors and injured one man.

Toronto Police believe the explosion may have been caused by illicit drug making.

“It appears the unit where the explosion happened is a clandestine lab, ” Const. Jeniffer Sidhu said.

Toronto’s Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) response team and the Toronto Fire Services responded to the accident and launched the investigation immediately after.

The injured person was rushed to the hospital and has been released after health checks.

Const. Sidhu says the Toronto Drug squad, Toronto Fire and Toronto Police are still investigating the case.
