Freelance dance instructor charged with sexual assault

Accused of assaulting 12-year-old girl

A 34-year-old Mississauga woman is facing charges for sexual assault allegations from 2007 and 2008, according to Toronto police.

The accused worked as a freelance dance instructor for Vince Parrell Dance Studio, near Danforth Avenue and Main Street.

While teaching there, Cheryl Thompson befriended a 12-year-old girl. The accused allegedly assaulted the the girl and police were first notified Sept. 23.

Thompson is charged with one count of sexual assault, one count of sexual interference and one count of sexual exploitation.
