Ten people were taken to hospital with minor injuries after a Toronto Transit Commission bus collided with a subway fence at Lawrence East station Monday evening.

The 54 Lawrence East bus was on its usual route when it turned into Lawrence East station stop around 5:30 p.m. The bus then turned and collided with the fence that separates the driveway from the train tracks.

Police, fire trucks and paramedics were called to the scene and arrived within five minutes of the incident, a bystander said. Weather conditions were poor at the time, though the cause of the collision is still unknown.

The collision damaged the front of the bus, including the front windows, and the fence.

Toronto police said the collision left 10 people with minor injuries. They were all transported to hospital.

Bystander Abdi Said happened upon the scene shortly after the collision and recorded video of the aftermath:

“Everyone at the station just looked shocked and scared,” said Said. “I [saw] police and paramedics go inside the bus.”

TTC Service Alerts on Twitter says due to extreme weather there will be service delays and urged everyone to be careful when outside.
