Raptors unveil new Nike Pro hijab

The Toronto Raptors have become the first-ever team to unveil a branded Nike hijab. They have begun marketing and selling the team branded hijab, inspired by Muslim women basketball players across Toronto. The hijab was unveiled on Sept. 13, with the release of a promotional video on the the Toronto Raptors Twitter account.
Since the releasing of this hijab, they have gotten positive and inspirational reaction from Muslim and non Muslim communities across Twitter.
The Raptors’ hijab is meant to inspire more Muslim women to get involved in sports. “I think it’s a very forward-thinking initiative. It’s nice to see inclusiveness in ways you wouldn’t expect,” said Omar Idrees, a Ryerson University student who has seen many Hijabi women unable play sports because of the clothing they wear. “One of the biggest things that stop a lot of young Muslim women from playing sports is the outfits they wear (Hijab). This would definitely encourage them to start participating in sports.” The Raptors Nike Pro hijab is available in-store at Toronto’s RealSports.
