The Raptors’ hijab is meant to inspire more Muslim women to get involved in sports. “I think it’s a very forward-thinking initiative. It’s nice to see inclusiveness in ways you wouldn’t expect,” said Omar Idrees, a Ryerson University student who has seen many Hijabi women unable play sports because of the clothing they wear. “One of the biggest things that stop a lot of young Muslim women from playing sports is the outfits they wear (Hijab). This would definitely encourage them to start participating in sports.” The Raptors Nike Pro hijab is available in-store at Toronto’s RealSports.
