Embracing Black history through literature

Published on

Anticipation builds for an upcoming Black History Month event at Centennial College’s Story Arts Centre on Friday Feb. 23rd. Students and faculty eagerly await what promises to be a captivating journey into black culture, history, and literature, featuring esteemed author and Interim Chair in the School of English and Liberal Studies, Philip Alalibo.

Organized by the Office of Development in partnership with the Library and Learning Centre, and with the generous support of the Centennial College Student Association Inc., this event aims to provide attendees with thought-provoking discussions and engaging insights into the significance of Black history.

Thanks to the generosity of the CCSAI (Centennial College Student Association Inc.) students attending the event will receive complimentary copies of Alalibo’s book, further enriching their knowledge and understanding of Alalibo’s work.

The event will feature discussions on Alalibo’s books, including How to Make Black People Happy in February and All Year Round 2022, which explores the nuances of celebrating Black culture authentically. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage directly with Alalibo’s literature and gain a deeper understanding of the complexities of Black identity and history.

At the Story Arts Centre, attendees can immerse themselves in a celebration of Black literature, be part of this meaningful experience and engage with impactful narratives. The event begins at 2:30 pm in the school library.
