Lower speed limit signs coming to East York … but not right away

New signs for reduced speed limits will not be posted on residential streets in East York until early next year, according to Toronto and East York Transportation Services. The vote to reduce speed limits was approved unanimously by the Toronto and East York community council in early September. The speed limit on some residential roads in East York officially went from 40 kilometres per hour to 30, a week ago. Toronto and East York Transportation Services supervisor Sandra Burk said the delay in posting the signs is because the process is complex.

Forum calls for consent culture initiatives on Canadian campuses

Delegates attending a national forum in Ottawa to end sexual violence on college and university campuses have recommended that student voices must be present in all discussions of their school’s sexual assault policy-making. The two-day forum, organized by the Canadian Federation of Students, invited student council members from Canada’s post-secondary institutions to share their experiences regarding sexual violence on campus.

I’m so shocked that I can’t move my mouth to say anything,” recalled Chin, reciting from her memoir, The Other Side of Paradise. Because she was a child at the time, Chin said, her accusation was never taken seriously.
