The Scarborough Town Centre celebrates “Earth Day every day” and has always taken pride in being a “green” shopping mall. This year, they’re proving their green leader status by implementing an ORCA Green Food Digester, becoming the first business in North America to operate this machine.
Every year on April 22, communities get together to clean up their neighbourhoods and participate in events that educate them on how to be kinder to the environment. But every day should be Earth Day, says Keith Treffry of Earth Day Canada. “After Mother’s Day is over you still love your mom the rest of the year,” he said.
With Earth Day approaching, a lot of communities around the city are gearing up to clean up their neighbourhoods – for at least 20 minutes on any given day.
The sounds of birds chirping and the fresh spring breeze blowing through the city are greeting Scarborough residents seeking a fresh beginning ahead of the summer months. The first step for many looking to turn a new leaf is participating in the annual Earth Day spring cleaning.
