4 in a row: Birchmount Park senior boys win city volleyball title

The Birchmount Park Collegiate Institute Panthers senior boys claimed their fourth consecutive Tier 1 volleyball city championship on Nov. 17 at Humber College.

The Birchmount Panthers beat the R.H. King Academy Lions, their Scarborough and Toronto District School Board division 4A rivals.

Birchmount won in three sets, but King Academy was never more than five points behind.

The first set ended 25-20, the second 25-23 and the third 26-24.

King Academy shook off the loss and went on to beat York Mills three sets to one in the OFSAA Challenge Match on Nov. 18.

Birchmount and King Academy played in the East Region division during the regular season. The King Academy Lions finished first with an undefeated record of 8-0.

King Academy handed Birchmount its only regular season loss on Oct. 13.
