‘Black Panther’ movie important: founder of Canada’s Black Speculative Arts Movement

The release of the Hollywood blockbuster “Black Panther” is going to give the Black Speculative Arts Movement a tremendous boost, predicted Quentin VerCetty, artist and founder of Canada’s BSAM organization. “People will be talking about [the film] for a long time, it is something we haven’t seen on screen for a long time, something we artists are trying to create in a speculative realm.”

Toronto’s LGBTQ community vigil shows resilience after serial killer arrest

A large group of Torontonians arrived bundled in layers of clothing Tuesday night at Barbara Hall Park in the heart of the city’s gay district for a vigil of solidarity with the city’s LGBTQ community,  and to remember the lives taken by an alleged serial killer. Many participants sported white kerchiefs tied around their arms with the words: love, heal, resist and rise.

Alleged gay village serial killer hid victims’ bodies in garden planters: police

Elements of the Toronto police task force codenamed Project Prism have unearthed the remains of at least three different victims in the garden of a home in a quiet Leaside neighborhood.
Early Monday, police revealed the presence of an excavation team in the Bayview Avenue and Moore Avenue area, as they also detailed the results of what exactly the backyard has yielded to date.
