Striking teaching assistants cause traffic delays

Published on

Teaching assistants are causing chaos for commuters as they continue their strike at the University of Toronto’s Scarborough campus.

Students who use public transit to get to school are faced with delays as TTC buses are being forced to reroute due to the picketers.

UTSC student Adele Kelaiditis says the interruption of service is causing her to take alternative routes.

“I can’t take the same bus as I used to because I would be late for class everyday, so I have to take another as long as this strike goes on,” she said. “Its becoming a pain.”

Teaching assistants and other members of staff at the school have been striking since Feb. 27 and have yet to reach a deal that would see them return to work. Students at the school are planning on staging a walkout to demand the university refund tuition lost during the strike.
